Green sea turtles are reptiles whose ancestors evolved on land and took to the sea to live about 150 million years ago. They are one of the few species so ancient that they watched the dinosaurs evolve and become extinct.
Information about these ancient nomads of the deep has until recently focused on nesting females and hatchlings because they are the easiest to find and study. The advent of new research techniques, such as satellite tracking technology, has allowed scientists to peer into other phases of their lives.

Evolution
Evolution is when a species evolves or changes in order to adapt to its environment. If a female of the species gives birth to a baby that is different from the others, it is most likely to survive because it has new adaptations that suits the environment it is more likely to live that the others of that species. The baby will grow up and reproduce more of it's kind with the new adaptations. The others of the species will die and be unable to reproduce resulting in the evolution of the species. Evolution happens through DNA, or gene.
